Not in the RRA area, but we know many residents use Riddlesdown Rd.

This road (Riddlesdown Rd) will be closed at the railway bridge by Brancaster Lane, for Network Rail to carry out works to the railway bridge from 22.00 hrs on Monday 26 October until 06.00 hrs on Tuesday 27 October (overnight closure only).

Purley Downs Rd should/will be open by then.

Access Protection Markings

The RRA reported in the summer Recorder (2026) magazine, the costs for residents who wanted to have the white Access Protection Markings (APM) or H bars across driveways to try and deter motorists from parking on, or across a dropped kerb to a property. This is a particular problem in the 4 main streets near to Riddlesdown rail station, streets near to the Collegiate and the streets near to the Mitchley Ave shops.

Half Hourly Trains on Monday & Tuesdays

Despite advertising by GTR that Riddlesdown (and other stations from Sanderstead to East Grinstead) would have half-hourly trains again during the day for the school summer holidays, this has not always been the case, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The RRA took this up with the East Surrey Transport Committee (which the RRA are represented on), and this is the reply back from GTR:
“Unfortunately we haven’t been able to increase the service to half-hourly for as many of the weeks as we originally […]

Amended weekend train services for Riddlesdown;
We have received this e-mail below from GTR reminding about the engineering works every weekend in January (and later in the year) on the main London to Brighton rail. According to the National Rail website, this WILL have an impact for Riddlesdown train services (and Sanderstead & Upper Warlingham) as they will be hourly only, going to/from London Bridge on both Saturdays and Sundays.

GTR (Southern Railway & Thameslink) have announced today (8/11/25) in an e-mail that they are gradually reinstating the half-hourly service during the weekdays from 14 December 2025 for the East Grinstead line (including Riddlesdown). But there are some catches!

They advise;
“Services between East Grinstead and London Victoria – Monday to Friday
To make it easier for people to travel during the middle of the day, services between East Grinstead and London Victoria will now be half-hourly during the middle of the day on weekdays, rather than hourly.
