Half Hourly Trains on Monday & Tuesdays
Despite advertising by GTR that Riddlesdown (and other stations from Sanderstead to East Grinstead) would have half-hourly trains again during the day for the school summer holidays, this has not always been the case, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The RRA took this up with the East Surrey Transport Committee (which the RRA are represented on), and this is the reply back from GTR:
“Unfortunately we haven’t been able to increase the service to half-hourly for as many of the weeks as we originally wanted to as we need to accommodate track patrolling.
They were half-hourly on Monday & Tuesday for the first two weeks, then it took two weeks ‘off’ on the Monday & Tuesday last week & this week to give time during the day for patrols to take place. It is back to half-hourly next week (17 & 18) but then paused again during the last week for the 24th & 25th of August.
Journey Planners have been updated to show the correct service for when it is half-hourly and when it isn’t, but understand it was a relatively late notice change so understandable that there’s been some confusion – which we are very sorry for.
The web page has been updated to specify when it isn’t half-hourly, but fully appreciate many will have checked it when they were announced and not ‘gone back to it’. https://www.southernrailway.com/service-updates/timetables/latest-on-our-rail-service
Hope this helps,
Best wishes,
