School Flashing signs on Mitchley Ave
Some residents/motorists may have noticed the two amber flashing school signs on Mitchley Ave, in both directions (by No. 9 and opposite No.153), were flashing at weird times – like on a Sunday evening.

The RRA took this up a few weeks ago with the Council and Milestone, their street lighting contactor, to reset the times – for the times/days, coinciding with Riddlesdown Collegiate’s start and finish times.

However, the Council’s contractor came back to us to advise the signs required a software update, but this was not possible with the old units, so new units were put on order.

The RRA have been told today (23/10/25) by Milestone that the new school sign units have now been erected at these two locations, and they have been programmed to flash at Riddlesdown Collegiate’s start and finish times of 8am and 3pm (week days).

They are programmed to flash for Monday to Friday
7:30 – 09:30 am
2:30 – 4:30 pm

The Collegiate’s holiday dates are also programmed into the new units, so not to flash when the students are not in school, and are programmed so far, up to the end of the summer term in July 2026 (the current available dates from the Collegiate).

If anyone notices them flashing outside these times/days, please e-mail the RRA at; RiddlesdownResidents@gmail.com and we will take it up with Milestone.
