New Street Trees
As we have lost a number of old and mature street trees over the last few years in our area, the RRA decided last year to sponsor four street trees via the Council and ‘Trees for Streets’, https://www.treesforstreets.org/
(for info, in the link, 20 litres is about 4 gallons).
Unfortunately, the Council don’t have the full funds available to replace these felled trees.
We sponsored four trees in streets last year (Coombe Wood Hill x 2, Westfield Ave and Purley Bury Close). All four new trees were in locations where trees were previously located.
As this has been successful for this last year, the RRA Committee have decided to sponsor four more trees more for next year.
If any resident living in the RRA area wants a tree outside their property, and it is feasible to plant one there, and they are prepared to water it for at least three years, then please e-mail us at; RiddlesdownResidents@gmail.com and we’ll look into the request and if the location is suitable.
If no resident comes forward to look after the tree, then we will not sponsor all four trees. At the moment we have had requests from three residents, and we are looking if these locations are suitable with the Council (Tandridge Gdns, Westfield Ave & Mitchley Ave).
Please note we have had some requests for trees in streets not in the RRA area. Please note the RRA’s area on this link, before asking us: https://riddlesdownresidents.org.uk/the-rra-area/
Update 13/10/25 – we have now received 5 requests for tree locations, so we may not accept any more locations for this coming season and will add any further to a reserve list.
